Project 52: 4th Date (Shopping & Ice Cream)

Friday's date ended up a little different than I had planned. The original plan was to take Chris to this great do it yourself pottery place. I thought we could create a piece together with a bit of good conversation in between. Not taking into account that we needed someone to watch the kids or the fact that the store closed at 8PM, we didn't get the kids to my mom's until 7:10. Hoping that we could at least START our project, we raced there & were told that you have to be there 1 hour prior to closing...grrr! Needless to say, I was crabby. Remembering that I needed to stop at the mall to check on Easter sweaters for the girls, Chris agreed that we could shop. Now, I don't know about any of you mom's out there but I don't remember the last time I went shopping without my children. It was WONDERFUL. Chris & I walked through the mall HOLDING HANDS :) which isn't possible when pushing a stroller. He even commented on the fact that it was nice & relaxing to just stroll through the mall together.
On our way to pick up the kiddos, we stopped at DQ & shared a turtle waffle bowl sundae (highly recommend you try one!)
So, even though my original date was a bust, we had a great night together.

  1. Sounds like heaven. I love to wander around stores with my hubby - holding hands. It makes me feel like a newlywed again.

  2. Just being without children for a while is a treat, pottering sounds more fun than the pottery would have been xo

PS these date posts make me realise how dull the food in the UK is. The posts from the USA show that you all know how to make the most of those calories, how anyone ever stays under 10 tonnes is a mystery!

  4. we always split a dessert from DQ. It is romantic and you don't have to be guilty about all of the calories.

  5. so now you know when it would be a better time to plan the pottery date and you made the best of the situation. It is always nice to go through a store, mall, etc. without the kids.
