Dancing Queen

This past weekend was Mackenzie's our dance recital. It ended up turning into some sort of family event & I loved every second of it. This past winter, Kenzie's dance studio decided to start a mom's class. Having danced a good part of my childhood, I jumped at the chance to get back into it. The class was only supposed to be a good way to exercise & learn some fun dance moves but our teacher insisted that we were good enough to perform at the Christmas recital. I'll admit that I was a nervous wreck when the curtain opened but it was a total blast & I signed up again this spring. This time around our dance was to Billy Jean by MJ. Our teacher has a way of making anyone look like they've been dancing their entire life so we looked pretty darn good up there (unless you count the part where I completely blanked & forgot to spin).
Kenzie was in 2 dances for this recital & was amazing. She LOVES everything about dance so we practice quite a bit at home & there's rarely a moment where she isn't wearing her leotard. While all the other girls were staring at the teacher behind the curtain, our little girl was dancing & smiling away. SO proud of her! My favorite part of the evening was the daddy/daughter dance. I signed Chris up without asking him & he was such a good sport about it. 29 other dad's signed up as well so that made it a bit less uncomfortable. I wish I had a video to post of them but no videotaping is allowed. The first song was Hey Daddy. A 30's swing type song, followed by My Little Girl by Tim McGraw (total tear jerker!) It was precious! I highly suggest looking into a mom's dance class in your area...and if you live here, you should definitely sign up for the fall session!
