I wish there was a way to stop time. To keep things just as they are in this very moment (ok, maybe not everything)...just the little things about my sweet 7 year old girl that I know will continue to change as each year comes & goes. Her precious little smile with all those baby teeth, the excitement on her face as she proudly rides around the block on 2 wheels, the way she sweetly asks me to snuggle & have grown-up girl bonding time & that she still lets me hold her hand & give her kisses in public. I can hardly believe that she's already 7 and although I cling to her staying a sweet little girl, I know that she's going to be just as beautiful & wonderful as she grows (maybe even a little less whiny?!) I'm truly blessed to be her mommy.
We had her "Sweet Shoppe" party last Saturday & the girls had a blast. 8 little 7 year old girls, tons of candy & lots of giggling. We had giant lollipops, pixie sticks, cupcakes with bubble gum, smarties & an ice cream cone shaped pinata...also filled with candy. I was thinking after the fact that their goody bags should have included a toothbrush!
The party started out with a craft which went way faster than I had planned.
Gifts & cupcakes went quickly as well. Apparently 7 year olds are much more efficient than 5 & 6 year olds. I was starting to panic when I realized that we still had an hour to fill until parents started coming. Our next game was a huge hit. Hide a little piece of gum under a pile of cool-whip & search for it without using your hands. The girls had a blast & somehow convinced Chris & I to join in on the fun. I think their chant went something like "do it! do it! do it!"
And last but certainly not least was the pinata. Each girl was blindfolded & had 10 seconds to swing. They each ended up getting two turns & one whack without the blindfold. It finally broke open as each of them dove to get some treats. Totally exhausted but happy that Mackenzie enjoyed her special day. We will definitely be limiting the amount of candy intake at future parties. ha.
