Trying out my Suzy Homemaker skills

A wonderful friend of mine so graciously allowed me to borrow one of her sewing machines a few months back because I was itching to make something. I had sewn a few simple things in junior high & high school (ie: fleece hat & mittens, flannel shorts, a pillow) but it wasn't on the top of my "hobbies" list. Now that I have 3 little munchkins, what better time to get back into it?!

I did make this adorable outfit (with some help) when Mackenzie was 2 but that was about it.

With Christmas coming, I decided to make a few gifts for my nieces & nephews. Wish I would have taken pictures of everything but I forgot, so here are just a few of my sewing creations.

This outfit was for my niece, Reagan. I bought the shirt & jeans from Old Navy & added the elephant applique with button eyes & the ruffles to the jeans.

Made this froggy shirt for my little daycare boy, Kemper J. He's in LOVE with his stuffed frog so I thought a frog applique shirt would be perfect.

My nephew is from Colorado so I made him some CU Buffs flannel pants. They turned out great & fit perfectly. I plan to make Preston a John Deere pair in the next few days.

This pillow was one of Mackenzie's gifts. Matches her bedding & she loves Barbie. Perfect!

I also made my baby nephew a SUPER cute bib made out of this fork & spoon fabric.

And an applique shirt & ruffle pants for my niece, Olivia. Forgot to take pictures of that one too.

So, my skills are improving & I'm having a ton of fun learning to make new things for my kids. What should I make next?!

  1. Wow, great job! I love the appliqued shirts. Do you have a pattern to cut out the elephant and frog?
